Age of children:
Our parties are ideally suited for children aged 3-8 years.
Allergies and Special Diets:
Home Made Parties does not do its own baking, but uses various suppliers. These suppliers may be able cater for special diets on request. It is the responsibility of the customer to inquire whether any of your party guests have a food allergy (peanut, wheat, dairy, just to name a few) and provide written instructions/directions regarding that allergy. If a guest has severe food allergies, we request that the child’s parent provide all food for that child for the duration of the party. Unfortunately Home Made Parties (including Teresa Jane Saxton) (and its suppliers) are not able to supervise children with allergies to ensure that they do not consume any other party food. Home Made Parties (including Teresa Jane Saxton) does not take responsibility for allergic reactions or any other medical reaction stemming from the menu, or any activity taken place before, during and/or after the party.
We use Qualatex balloons, which are degradable. Balloons have been known to be a choking hazard for children under three years of age. Balloons will be given to young children if requested by their siblings/parents, and parents/caregivers remain responsible for supervising young children around balloons.
Home Made Parties events use glass, ceramic and other fragile serving ware and products. It is respectfully requested that the customer provides a safe, stable environment away from the main party area for food set up. If you are uncomfortable with the use of breakable serving dishes, please discuss alternate arrangements with us. Unfortunately, any breakages and damage, including but not limited to, stained and damaged fabric/table cloths, along with other brekages, must be paid for by the client. A list of replacement costs for items is available if required.
Cancellations made within 4 weeks of the party will receive a full refund of the deposit.
Cancellations/rescheduling made within 2 weeks of the party will incur a cancellation fee of $40.00, which will be deducted from the deposit.
Cancellations/rescheduling made within 1 week of the party will incur a cancellation fee of $50.00, which will be deducted from the deposit.
Clown parties are our specialty at Home Made Parties. TJ the clown will visit your child’s party, offering party entertainment and fun. For more information about what to expect at a clown party please see “Party Packages Available”
All children will need to wear clothes under their costumes, either pants, tights, leggings or shorts with a top/singlet. A parent/caregiver, is required to accompany all children while changing into costumes.

To secure your booking a deposit of 50% is generally required within two days of the booking. Please contact us directly to discuss payment options for your party type.
Event location requirements:
Home Made Parties events are ideally suited to your home. You may wish to have your party in a park, indoor play centre, church or community hall, or other location. Any costs, requirements, booking fees, or any other requirement associated with utilising any facility other than your home will be the responsibility of the customer, unless other wise organised as part of your party plan and factored into your event cost.
If your event is a signature or couture party package, Home Made Parties require the following to ensure a smooth function and the enjoyment of your guests:
- a cleared out area for set up.
- Unfortunately we do not move furniture, unless our suppliers are providing it as part of your party package.
- If your event is held outdoors in the hot summer months we will need a shady or covered area to set up.
- The area should be flat and dry.
- To prevent additional cleaning charges, as well as compliance with health and safety regulations, we are unable to set up in wet grass or mud.
- Please keep pets and/or children away from the pack up/set up area.
- Home Made Parties reserves the right to refuse to set up if the site is considered unsafe.
Home Made Parties only use and recommend TAG and Snazaroo face paints. Darker colours, especially within the TAG range, may temporarily stain the skin, but will wash off in the usual way of washing your child’s face. For health and safety requirements we are unable to paint children under three years of age on their face, although older toddlers, over two years of age, may chose to have a small image painted on the top of their hand. We are unable to put any face or body paint on children under 2 years of age. We will not paint faces with signs of wounds, sores, scabs, rashes or eye infections and reserve the right not to paint faces if we feel that there are any signs of wounds, sores, scabs, rashes or eye infections. Home Made Parties strongly recommend all customers and their guests to receive a “test patch” of the face paint to ensure no adverse allergic or other reaction occurs. In the unlikely event of an allergy or reaction to the face painting products used, neither the client nor any of their guests, will hold Home Made Parties, including Teresa Jane Saxton responsible or liable.
Filming/recording of Home Made Parties events:
Please do NOT record, video record, film, tape etc on any device, including but not limited to mobile phone, iphone, video recording equipment etc, any Home Made Parties magic shows, face painting process or the set up of any parties.
Home Made Parties will treat your party venue with the utmost respect and care. While all care is taken we take no responsibility for accidental damage caused by any of your guests or their actions or by our staff and their actions while at your event or party. All customers should ensure their venue is covered by an adequate Public Liability Insurance Policy.
Minimum/maximum number of children:
There is no minium of maximum number of children you can invite to a Home made Parties event, but the parties are ideally suited for a maximum of 12 children. Of course, please invite as many children as you would like, but understand that there may not be enough time to complete all the activities listed in the party packages and you may want to consider booking and paying for a longer package or realise that some activities will need to be omitted. Please provide us with a final headcount for signature and couture party packages four days prior to your event. If additional children attend the party (for example siblings), we will do our best to include them but cannot guarantee they will receive favours or other party treats, particularly personalised ones with their names on them.

Party entertainment packages usually run for either 1.5 hours or 2 hours. If your party goes longer than anticipated and/or you have additional guests, we cannot guarantee that a party entertainer will be able to stay additional time, although, if this is requested at the time of the party and we have the time available, this will be charged at an hourly rate of (usually) $85 per additional hour. In the unlikely event that we are running late to your party or event we will still stay for the agreed time-frame.
Generally a 50% deposit is required when booking a party. We do not accept cheque payments for the deposit. The remaining money is to be paid, no later, than the day of the party. If you are unable to process the deposit, we reserve the right to cancel your event. Please contact us to discuss your preferred method of payment.
All prices quoted and displayed on our website are in Australian Dollars unless otherwise stated.
If you would like your child/ren to be featured on the Home Made Parties’ blog or website, please request a consent form from us which will enable us to take and use photographs of your child/ren with your consent.
Most of the party products made and used by Home Made Parties are unique and hand crafted, often made just for your event or party. Therefore the photographs and images of the products you are purchasing that are shown on our website/s are representative only of the products you will receive. Further, the colour of products may be different in real life than how they appear on a computer screen. If you have a specific colour preference for any party accessories, please contact us to arrange for a sample/swab of the décor you will be using. Our products are generally packaged in degradable cellulose wrap.
Public Liability Insurance:
Home Made Parties is insured by AAMI. Activities that can be carried out at your party may be limited by the provisions contained in our insurance policy.
Rain/inclement weather Policy:
Home Made Parties will NOT provide refunds due to rain. If you choose to hold your event outside, you must have an alternate rain plan. Home Made Parties has the discretion and final decision as to set up or not in the event in the rain or if there are any signs of rain. If the location selected is very windy, this will most likely affect the table displays and activities offered at the party.
Home Made Parties may charge a rush fee if you are requesting (and we have available) a party date less than 3 weeks before your event. This would usually only apply for parties requiring set up time and we encourage you to discuss your requirements with us in detail prior to the event so that we can provide an adequate costing for your event.
Home Made Parties serve Lismore, Byron Bay, Lennox Head and Ballina and surrounding areas. Events and parties outside of these areas may incur a travel charge. If you live outside these areas please contact us to discuss your requirements with us in detail prior to the event so that we can provide an adequate costing for your event. Tweed and Gold Coast Parties can be arranged. We will most likely be able to provide you with the contact details of a company who can service your area, should we be unable to.
Set up of signature and couture parties:
To ensure the smooth running of your event, it may take up to 4 hours to set up your party space prior to the start of the party. Home Made Parties will have a lot to in that time frame. We ask that our clients please ensure that any children attending the party and other family members and guests stay away from the set up area, as any distractions will detract from our ability to set up your party space in a timely manner.
Supervision of Children:
Home Made Parties is not a baby sitting service or a child care service and parents/party hosts remain responsible for the children at all times. Parents/party hosts must stay with the children at all times. Please ensure that you have enough adult helpers to ensure your party will go smoothly, and that children will receive adequate supervision.
Home Made Parties, Home Made party entertainers (including TJ the Clown, Sparkles the Friendly Witch, Fairy Sparkles, Clover the Garden Fairy and any other entertainers, whether created for your event, contracted by Home Made Parties and/or not yet known to Home Made Parties), Teresa Jane Saxton and any other person contracted or employed by Home Made Parties, assume no responsibility or liability for accidents or damages. In the event of damage or loss of any property belonging to Home Made Parties and/or damage or loss to the client’s party location, the financial responsibility lies entirely with the client.
Home Made Parties is not responsible for allergic reactions or any other medical reaction stemming from the menu, wearing of costumes, or any activity taken place before, during and/or after the party. In the case of liability and/or financial remuneration due to the aforementioned, the responsibility lies with the client.
By purchasing any materials, products or services provided by Home Made Parties, you agree that, except as otherwise provided under applicable laws, neither Home Made Parties, nor its owners or employees shall be liable for any consequential, direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or other damages whatsoever arising out of or related to using or accessing any of our services (including accessing/using our website/s). Further, you agree that Home Made Parties will label our products with our logo and any contact details of the company.
Home Made Parties and any employees cannot be held responsible for non-performance of contracted obligations due to certain events including, but not limited to: cancellation or postponement of the event by the Client, riots, war, acts of God (including floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and widespread damage due to other natural disasters), acts of government and other actions of Authorities that are beyond our control.
